72 RESIDENTIAL UNITS AND 5000 SQ FT OF COMMERICIAL SPACE NEXT TO THE RAILWAY.
Tully De’Ath provided civil and structural engineering services for the Bedford Road scheme.
Planning consent was gained in March 2012 for 72 residential units and 5000 sq ft of commercial space over 7 storeys. Parking and cycle storage has been included as part of the successful planning application.
The site is split into two separate buildings; the Terrace Block fronts Bedford Road and is for private sale, whereas the Mews Block faces the railway embankment and is for social housing. The Terrace Block also contains the commercial space (indicated by the blue hatching on the adjacent image). Both buildings are constructed in reinforced concrete.
The site is located on Bedford Road next to the railway and within short walking distance of Clapham North Tube Station.
Tully De’Ath are also acted as the Contractors Responsible Engineer in respect of the works to the base of the railway embankment and also for the checking of items that may impact the railway such as the piling mat and crane base. Close liason with Network Rail and careful preparation of the necessary Network Rail forms for approval ensures the project continues to run smoothly.
Part of the Terrace Block, fronting Bedford Road itself, has a half-basement which is 75% residential use and 25% plant space. This has been constructed in reinforced concrete, utilizing a waterproof admixture.
