Norbury Manor Business & Enterprise College
Built under the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) school buildings investment programme, Norbury Manor Business & Enterprise College was completed in 2010.
The new Sixth Form building at Norbury Manor Business & Enterprise College houses 250 students in a purpose built learning environment. Dedicated facilities include a common room & study area, two media suites, business/ICT rooms, science labs, a health & social care suite, multi-purpose classrooms, art & textiles rooms, a careers room and a business Incubator.
The scheme is part of a Croydon Council proposal to improve secondary school education in the borough, an important part of which is increased sixth-form provision.
'...a purpose built learning environment.'
Tully De'Ath were asked by NPS to provide a workable drainage scheme for the site. As the construction of the structure was already underway a detailed design had to overcome the constraints of the existing site layout and constuction to deliver a workable solution.
The drainage was designed to attenuate surface water run-off in cellular storage tanks, with environmentally and aesthetically pleasing landscape ponds, swales and water features. Hydobrakes control the flow of water to prevent inundation of the above-ground water storage features while keeping discharge into offsite ditches within acceptable limits.
The drainage system takes part of its feed from a reed bed that treats road water runoff from an existing roadway. This removes hydrocarbons and negates the need for a petrol interceptor.
