Natural ventilation, lighting and rainwater harvesting
The design and build construction of The Rivergate Centre, Barkingside. The first school consists of a 3-form entry primary school which will serve 690 pupils with new teaching facilities incorporating natural ventilation, natural lighting and rainwater recycling.
The project involves an RC Frame constructed using recycled aggregates on piled foundations on remediated ground.
The development uses 50% attenuated surface water and is designed to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating. A significant part of the roof run-off will be attenuated in situ within the green roof build up.

This development is part of the major Barking Riverside Development providing 10,000 new homes, retail, transport links and new town facilities to the Barking Region of East London.
The building will comprise a school administration area, reception, Adult Education facilities, family learning centre, creche and quiet room, as well as housing two IT suites and a video conference room.
